Funeral services for Walter T. Stenke, 81, Good Samaritan Home, Jackson, were held Tuesday, Jan. 18, in the Good Samaritan Home Chapel, William Brown, administrator of the Good Samaritan Home officiating. Interment was in Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery, Kimball Township, Jackson County.
Mr. Stenke passed away Saturday, Jan. 15, in the Good Samaritan Home.
He was born on Aug. 22, 1901, in Kimball Township, the son of Rudolph and Minnie (Pinno) Stenke and received his education from the rural school in Kimball Township.
In June 1926, he married Edna Stark in her parents’ home.
Mrs. Stenke passed away Sept. 25, 1978.
Survivors include two sons, Donald, Seaside, Calif., and Merle, Denver, Color., and three sisters, Mrs. Fred (Elsie) Oeltjenbruns, Mr. Lake; Mrs. Henry (Irma) Elsing, Butterfield and Mrs. Ralph (Dorothy) Forstrom, Tucson, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters.
Mr. Stenke was a resident of Jackson and Cottonwood counties his entire life, during which time he was engaged in farming. He had also been employed by the City of Jackson.
Serving as casket bearers at the services were his nephews, Dale Elsing, Mearl Drager, Lowell Porath, Arthur Stenke, Charles Stradtman and Lawrence W. Johnson. Published: Observer-Advocate, January 16, 1983
