Albert was the son of Jehu Morris Summers and Nancy Jane Morris. His paternal grandparents were William Bell Summers & Martha Brown Morris and maternal grandparents George W Morris & Rachel Sawyer. William Bell Summers was the son of Jehu Summers Sr, one of the first settlers of the Kanawha Valley.

Albert was in a wheelchair before he died.
