Caroline was the daughter of Joseph J. Pindell and Mary J. Coffey. Her mother was an emancipated slave.

She was the wife of Judson Burroughs Linendoll and the mother of Arthur Romayne Lindendoll.

She was the granddaughter of Alvin Aaron and Mahala (Tindall) Coffey. Alvin Aaron Coffey was an emancipated slave who purchased his freedom in 1854. In 1857, he purchased the freedom of his wife and five children, the eldest was Mary (Coffey) Pindell, the mother of Caroline.
