- Maxwell George Allen, 77, of 2547 Bowmer Drive, Kissimmee, died Aug. 6. Born in Roleau, Canada, he moved to the area from Hampton, Va., in 1981. He was a retired intelligence officer for the United States Army with 30 years of service. He was an Army veteran of World War II, the Korean conflict and the Vietnam War. He was a graduate of George Washington University. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge No. 2056, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks No. 1873, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 4048, Veterans of Foreign Wars No. 4225, Makinson-Carson American Legion Post No. 10, and Disabled American Veteran, all of Kissimmee. He was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Kissimmee. Survivors include his wife, Thelma Allen, Kissimmee; son, George Hurbert Allen, Killeen, Texas, James Edward Allen, Charlottesville, Va.; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Gloria Allen. Mass of Christian burial was held Aug. 9 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with Father John McCormick officiating. Burial was in Osceola Memory Gardens, Kissimmee, with full military honors provided by the U.S. Army. Contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Florida, 2500 Maitland Center Parkway, Suite 300, Maitland, FL 32751. Grissom Funeral Home, Kissimmee, was in charge of arrangements.
