Wayne Hayes Tanner, 79, of Germantown, TN passed from this earthly life on February 6, 2014. He was born on March 14, 1936 as the youngest child of Ashley and Lois Tanner of Brighton, TN. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Barbara Barton Tanner, and his daughter, Lee Anne Tanner both of Germantown; daughter, Allison West of Jackson, TN and three grandchildren: Taylor, Kristen, and Caleb. As a young man, he went to work for Gordon's Transports. He took leave to proudly serve his country as a member of U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Upon returning home, he continued working for Gordon's for over 30 years. Later, he worked both in real estate and as a building contractor. Wayne also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and friends he loved as family. Visitation will be held Saturday, February 8 at 10 a.m. with the service following at 11 a.m. Location is Schaeffer Memorial Chapel located at 7887 Poplar Avenue, Germantown, TN. Burial will be held the following Tuesday at the West Tennessee Veterans' Cemetery on Forest Hill-Irene.
