Louise H. Rhodes, 103, of Benton, passed away February 4, 2014. She was born April 1, 1910, to the late Dave and Eva Collatt. Louise was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church. She taught at Bennet School, provided books for the Gann Memorial Library, was a guard during World War II at Reynolds Metals and worked for the Red Cross for 41 years. Louise was known as the "Red Cross Lady." She loved to read up until she lost her eye sight. Louise loved talking to people and telling stories to a captivated audience.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Louis Rhodes, brother, Wayne Collaty, sister, Doris Collatt, niece, Katheryn Wood and nephew, Jimmy Collatt.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 8, 2014, at New Rosemont Cemetery by Ashby Funeral Home. (from Ashby Funeral Home online obituary)
