Funeral services for Captain Larry Alan Flenniken, 46, of Lamesa will be held Friday, February 7, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Lamesa Church of Christ with Mark Hackett, Bro. Charles Empey, and Gary Flenniken officiating. Interment will follow in Dawson County Cemetery under the direction of Branon Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Thursday, February 6, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Branon Funeral Home. Larry passed away Tuesday February 4, 2014 in Lubbock. He was born February 17, 1967 in Lubbock and adopted by Vernon and Eleene (Ball) Flenniken. He married Vicki Brown January 19, 1996. They were married for 18 years. Larry graduated from Lamesa High School in 1985 and attended Angelo State University. He graduated from the Police Academy in San Angelo and was extremely dedicated to law enforcement. He earned his Masters' Degree in Law Enforcement. He began his career in 1995 as a patrol officer for the Lamesa Police Department. Larry served as Interim Police Chief and was currently serving as Captain of the Lamesa Police Department. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. His grandchildren were the light of his life. He is survived by his wife, Vicki Flenniken of Lamesa; children, Nathan Noble Flenniken of Corpus Christi, Alexis Dawne McBee of Lamesa, and Brenna Cay Lauderdale of Lamesa; parents, Eleene and Vernon Flenniken of Lamesa; sisters, Sharon Brown and husband, Lee of Laramie, WY, and Glenda Campbell and husband, Glen of Wolforth; brothers, Danny Flenniken and wife, Malinda of Big Spring, and Gary Flenniken and wife, Vicki of College Station; and grandchildren, Hunter Flenniken and Halayna Flenniken both of Midland, Brooke McBee of Lamesa, and one on the way. The family suggests memorials to a charity of your choice.
