In 1918 Steve bought a half section of land from his brother, Charlie, and moved from his farm south west of Tees to Lakeside, early in 1919. Steve and Viola's elder daughter Mildred married Charlie Brickman, and lived in Viking, Alberta. Their younger daughter, Blanche, known to everyone as "Dick" married Arie Kievit.
