Pvt. William T. Hill was the son of Richard and Elizabeth Quincy Hill. He was born, raised and died in Greene County, NC. He married in Greene Co., also. Williams' 1st wife was Julia Jones, who he married about 1860. His first child, William, was born in 1861. He was a humble farmer and family man. He loved his Southern roots and when the War for Southern Independence began he and many other men within his small township felt the urgency to fight for their land, their family and their Southern way of life. Wm. T. Hill enlisted 07 Oct 1861 in Co. E, N. Carolina 3rd Cavalry Regiment (41 State Troops). When the war was over he returned to Greene Co. where Julia and, now, 4 year old son William welcomed him back home. William and Julia continued to build their family and had 9 more. Unfortunately, death came early for Julia, leaving William with 10 children to raise. Two years after Julia's death in 1886, William met and married Teremesia Hokie Taylor in 1886. William lived to be 75 years old.
