Emelyn Brown Bottorf, 76, of Newport, formerly of Carlisle & Lock Haven entered into eternal rest on Tue., Jan. 28, 2014 at Holy Spirit Hospital. Emelyn was born Dec. 22, 1937 in Lock Haven, PA. She was a graduate of Lock Haven High School. She married Richard E Bottorf Sr. Later they moved to Carlisle. She worked for K-Mart & then devoted her time to being a secretary for her husband's business B&L Glass. She enjoyed being a mother to her 4 children, listening to her audio books after her loss of vision. She also loved her 2 male nurses, PJ & Majestic (her cats). After the death of her husband, she moved to Newport & retired with her books & many new friends in the Newport Hotel, also enjoyed the company of her Angels On Call who became like family. She loved listening to Elvis, Nell Diamond & Tijuana Brass Band.
She was the daughter of Cloyce D & Dorothy R Brown & preceded in death by her brother Cloyce Devon Brown Jr, of Lock Haven, PA.
She is survived by her 4 children, Rhea (Howie) Brosius her care givrs, her daughters Kathy Stepp, Miriam Heffernan, & her son Richard Jr. Her grandchildren & great grandchildren. Also her cats PJ (Fat BOY) & Majestic. Her sister-In-Law Joan Fetzer of Mill Hall, her cousin Marion Long of Flemington, PA. Her cousin's Eugene & Israel Nolan.
Her services will be Tus., Feb. 4, 2014 at the David Myers Funeral Home, Walnut St., Newport, PA. Visitation will be 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM followed by the service. Pastor Mary Kay Miller will be officiating. Family & friends are invited to come share their memories. Light refreshments will be served after the service, 12:00 PM at May's Railside Grill, 207 Ficks Lane, Newport, PA. The family would like to thank The Angels On Call, Doris & Juanita, The Home Remedy Nurses, Hospice of Central PA, her neighbors Joann & Marion, for all their kindness & caring. Donations may be made in her memory to Hospice of Central PA, 1320 Linglestown Rd, Harrisburg, PA 17110 or to the Duncannon EMS 16 Shermans Dr., Duncannon, PA 17020.
