William Van Duren, 82, an ex-Oregon beekeeper and accountant, and the widower of Klondike Kate, died Thursday night in Everett, Wash., friends in Portland reported.

Mr. Van Duren had lived in Sweet Home, where Klondike Kate, the famed dance hall girl of Dawson City, died last February 21 at the age of 77.

The couple had been married some ten years before her death. A few months ago, Mr. Van Duren moved from Sweet Home to Everett, where he lived with a son Darrell.

He suffered a stroke Tuesday and died in Providence hospital in Everett. Services are planned Saturday. The Purdy & Waker funeral home is in charge of arrangements.
