Inscription
I believe that Mary A. Townsend was the wife of William P. Townsend. They are listed together on the 1850-52 Town of Lockport, NY census with two children: Mary E. (4 yrs) and Charles W. (2 yrs). Mary was 25 and William P. 31. Above these names is William A. Townsend (58 yrs). I believe William A. was William P.'s father. Along with William A. Townsend was "Niehitabel" (58 yrs). As of this date (12/27/2017) I can find no further information on her.
Nancy R. Armagost Adams (a Townsend descendant)
Information found from handwritten records state that Wm. A. Townsend, M.D., was born 13 Aug 1792. He lived on Old Military Road, west of Lake Ave., which was his residence until his death 7 May 1878 (buried at Cold Springs). His first wife, Mehitabel Pitkin was born 18 Nov 1791 and died 12 Nov 1852 in her 61st year (buried at Cold Springs). Their son was Wm. P. Townsend who was born 2 Oct 1818 and died 28 May 1872 in his 54th year of apoplexy. William A.'s second wife was Mary Ann Daley (sp?), daughter of John and Mary. She was born 16 Sep 1822 and died on 18 Dec 1883 of apoplexy in her 61st year. She married first Henry L. Valley (one son Salem) and second Hon. Hiram McNeil (one son Frank).
