Lebanon NH - George W. Adams, 96 passed away at Lebanon Center-Genesis on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 after a short illness. He leaves behind his wife Marjorie Adams of Lebanon.

George was born on July 17, 1917. He was a longtime resident of Lebanon. He enjoyed many summers in North Hampton at the Shel-Al Campground. One of his favorite places was spending time on Hampton beach with family and friends. George served during World War II and was honorably discharge from the United States Army.

George worked for Goodyear Tire Company in Windsor VT for 30 years after that he was employed at valley news for five years then retired. He enjoyed working around his home and also spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

George was predeceased by his parents- Warren Adams and Sarah Newton- Adams and his sister Lena Needham and Elinor Adams. He was survived by his wife Marjorie Adams, his daughter Dorthy Oakes- Shmitt and her husband- Al, his sister Alyce Quimby of South Carolina, and several nieces and nephews, grandsons Bobby Oakes and his wife Patty, John Oakes and his wife Carin, great-granddaughter Jennifer Labbie and her husband Todd, Brittany Mather, great grandsons Bobby Oakes "Oakesy," Dlyan Oakes, JT Mather, and great-great granddaughters Madison and Brenna Labbie, Grace Stark.

Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Tuesday January 21, 2014 from 11 to 12 am at the Ricker Funeral Home in Lebanon NH. A funeral will be held at the funeral home at 12 noon. Burial will follow in the Valley Cemetery in Lebanon. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Lebanon Center-Genesis, 24 Old Etna Road, Lebanon, NH 03766.
