Joel Alderman, age 63, of Talladega, Alabama, died Tuesday, August 21, 2001 at his daughter's home in Orange Park, FL. Mr. Alderman was born in Ft. Green, FL and resided in Talladega, AL since 1980. Joel graduated from Rollins College in Winter Park, FL where he earned his Bachelor's and his Masters in Business Administration. Mr. Alderman had owned and operated Colonial Chevrolet Buick Company in Talladega since 1980. He had served in the U.S. Marine Corp Reserves and was a founding member of the Talladega County Economic Development Authority, a member of the Talladega Rotary Club where he received the Paul Harris Fellowship Award. He was past President and Campaign Chairman of the North Talladega County United Way, and a member of the St. Peters Episcopal Church where he was past Senior Warden and past Vestry member, he was also a past member of the Episcopal Diocesan Council and The Bishops Standing Committee. He is preceded in death by his parents, Luther & Ida Alderman; sister, Ida Gates. He is survived by daughters, Nancy Arch of Orange Park, FL, and Jennifer Aufdenberg of Pell City, AL; son, Phillip Alderman of Talladega, AL; brother, Gary Alderman; sister, Barbara Russell, both of Orlando, FL, and 5 grandchildren. Memorial services will be held Saturday, August 25, 2001 at 11 AM at St. Peters Episcopal Church in Talladega. Memorial donations way be made to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida or The United Way of North Talladega County. Arrangements under the care of CLAY FUNERAL HOME, Green Cove Springs (904) 284-4000.
