Walter Joseph "Joe" Roberts, 79, of Greenwood passed away on January 21, 2014. He was born on December 13, 1934 in Indianapolis, a son of the late Walter and Mabel Roberts Sr.
Survivors include his loving wife Iona (Creech) Barnes Roberts and children, Michael Roberts (Beckie), Stephanie Fairfield (Steve); stepdaughters include Debbie Gallien (Rich), Teresa Morris, Carol Akard (Luke), Linda Ratliff (Steve), Barbara Barnes Creech (Paul), Shirley Ganstine (Butch), Juanita Wilkens (Jeffrey), Marilyn Pruitt (Ted), 24 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his brother, John Roberts, and 2 sons, David and Keith Roberts.
Joe was a volunteer for the Yellow Rose Patient Care Unit at Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital Hospice for 25 years and received volunteer of the year in 1998. He retired from Link Belt in 1984 and later worked at the airport for Avis for 10 years. Joe enjoyed traveling and trying new restaurants. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Christian Church.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 28 at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Greenwood Chapel, 481 West Main Street from 4-8 PM. The funeral will be on Wednesday at the funeral home at 2 PM. Burial will be at Floral Park Cemetery.
