Pearl Mary (Collodi) Campbell was the daughter of Italian immigrants who fell in love with a young Air Force pilot by the name of Harold George Campbell Jr. during Word War II. Pearl was the mother of four children (Margaret, Mary, Richard, and Hal) and a devoted wife until her final days. She was an exceptional woman who exemplified grace, compassion, tolerance, forgiveness, and patience. After the death of her husband Harold in 2005, she resided in a variety of assisted living facilities in California, Montana, North Dakota, and Oregon where she blossomed as a friend to those she encountered, and was regarded as a cherished member of the community by the staff that cared for her needs. Pearl demonstrated unimaginable strength, dignity, and courage as she battled the ravages of dementia during her final years. She gave up the fight on December 30, 2013 at the age of ninety, and the world is a lesser place because she is no longer in it. We all shall miss her dearly.
