Age 45 of Horseheads, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Sunday, January 12, 2014. Born on March 25, 1968 in Elmira, Shelly was the daughter of the late, Robert & Marjorie Cole Johnson. She graduated from Corning Community College with a degree in Paralegal Services. Shelly was employed by The Hilliard Corp. for many years. Devoted to her family, she was passionate about bowling, golf, playing BUNCO, shopping, and baking. Shelly is survived by her devoted and loving husband, Ryan Shafer; brother, Larry (Tracie) Johnson; mother-in-law, Victoria Shafer; father-in-law, Arthur Shafer; brother-in-law, Gordon Shafer, sister-in-law, Karen Shafer; nieces, Skylar, Alyson and Jillian; best friend, Carole Bahns; and companion, "Mr. Wiggles". In addition to her parents, Shelly was predeceased by her sister, Susan Marie Ruf. Family and friends will be received at Caywood's Funeral Home & Gardens, 1126 Broadway, Southport/Elmira Thursday, January 16, 2014 between the hours of 4-7 p.m. A Memorial Service will follow at 7:15 p.m.
