5th of 16 children. William Clyde Bazile Bodsworth enlisted in the Army on 14 December 1915. He was a farmer in the Sandringham area and listed his father as his next of kin. He was sent to Maribyrnong and was a driver. He was a slight man, only 5'2 inches (157 cm). He was discharged in 1919 with a medical issue, yet to be determined. At one point, his mother, Maria Bodsworth, wrote a letter to the Army looking for the location of her son as he had not disclosed where he was assigned. She had already lost one son in the war, Victor. 3 more of the Bodsworth boys were serving. William Clyde lost another brother, in World War II, Thomas, after his mother had died and another brother, his youngest, Sperry, was held Prioner of War in World War II, again after his mother had died. William went on to marry Ethel Emily Bond on 12 October 1922.
