Herman, Arkansas was named by Herman Borgman's grandfather Francis John Borgman when he submitted Herman to be the name of the train stop. Frank Borgman named the train stop in honor of his only grandson Herman. Years later, the post office at the Herman train stop was changed to Herman as well.

That being said Herman, Arkansas was named after Herman Francis Borgman and for this he is notable.

When he was five, his father brought him to St. Louis for the World's Fair and he met Teddy Roosevelt. This must have been on April 29, 1904, when Roosevelt opened the Fair.

Herman had a career with the St. Louis Post Office. He had many friends was considered an honest man and in his spare time, he researched his family tree.

He wrote a couple of articles that were published in the Craighead County Historical magazine and also was published several times in various newspapers always writing about American history.

I only met him several times when I was a child, but he would also write me letters which were always engaging.
