Bronson M. Akins, 89, of Buna, Texas, died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014 at Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital.

Funeral service will be 12:00 noon Saturday, Jan. 11, at Adams EE Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville with a 2:00 p.m. Graveside at Oakbluff Cemetery in Groves.

A native of Roganville, Texas, he had lived in Buna since 1986 and was a retired Operator for Unical and a World War II U.S. Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Mabel Akins; sons, Cary A. Akins and wife Jane and John M. Akins and wife Elaine; step children, Omega Wied and husband Norman; David Darden; Josh Darden; Todd Darden and wife Lisa; and Henry Darden and wife Kim; one grandson; and one great grandson; and 15 step grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rodney and Grace Akins; his wife, Wanda Akins; and a daughter, Janice Akins Doise.
