The Emerson family left Hawarden many years ago, going first to Des Moines. Later Mrs. Emerson went to New York to live with her daughter, Miss Hope Emerson, who was on stage there. A number of years ago she went to Hollywood with her daughter when she entered the movie field. Mrs. Emerson's husband Jack built the building that now houses McCue's Pool Hall in Hawarden. He and a brother operated a shoe store in the building.

Mrs. Emerson's father is believed to have been the first superintendent of schools in Hawarden.

She is survived by her daughter Hope, a well known movie actress.
