Sarah Emily Griffis parents were: Joseph or Josiah "Joe" Griffis 1854 – 1937 and Lilly Griffis Eaton 1855 – 1888. Her known siblings were: William (Will) Jesse Griffi 1875 – 1933; Henry Edward Griffis 1877 – 1964; Charles Thomas Griffis 1881 – 1951; John Griffis 1885 – 1962 and Arthur Washington Griffis 1887 – 1962.

In 1904 Sarah Emily Griffis became the bride of Samuel Marian Roberson in Van Zandt, Texas. Children from this marriage were: Hoyte Roberson 1906 – 1989;Margaret H. "Tessa" Roberson-Welch-McGahey 1908 – 1943; Eula B Roberson 1909 – 1992 and Lillian Fay Roberson Elder 1914 – 1980.

On the 1910 census, Sallie and Sam were living in a rented house in Lindsay, California. He was a rancher, but he declared that he was out of work.

Sometime between 1910 and 1918 Sallie and Sam moved to Visalia. The source for this was Samuel Marian Roberson's WWI registration card. They were living at 400 N.W. 2nd Avenue. Sam was working in the Prunes at the Visalia Fruit and Land Co.

The 1920 census found them living in Township 15, Kern County, California in a rented house on Mary Street, and Sam had secured work in the Oil Fields. The children were all attending school.

At the time of the 1930 census it is learned that Sallie and Sam had separated. Sallie was back living in Lindsay. The only child at home was Lillian, and her aged father, Josiah "Joe" Griffis, was living with them. She declared that she owned her home and was employed at the cannery.

The death certificate for her devoiced husband, Samuel Marian Roberson, and father of her children revealed that he passed away on Dec.9, 1939 in Los Angles and is buried at the Glendale Forest Lawn Cemetery.

The 1940 census revealed that Sallie had married again. Her new husband was Andrew "Andy" Farless. They were living in Lindsay, paying $15.00 a month rent for a house on Orange Ave. Her occupation was a Fruit Packer. She had worked only 9 weeks in 1939 and earned $135.00. She was unemployed and seeking work. Andy had steady work as a farmer, working 40 hours a week. He had worked all 52 weeks of 1939 and had made $1,500.00 for the year.

A very sad day was 20 Apr 1943, Sallie's daughter, Margaret H. "Tessa" Roberson-Welch-McGahey had passed away in the Los Angeles General Hospital. Sallie was in Los Angeles at the time as she was the informant on Tessa's death certificate. Tessa was buried in the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Glendale.

There are no other records available until 1971. On Jan. 11, 1971 Andrew "Andy" E Farless passed away. He was buried in the Lindsay-Strathmore Cemetery, also known as the Olive Cemetery on Lindsay, California.

Information on her death certificate reveal that sometime after Andy's death Sallie moved to Puyallup, Pierce, Washington, and was living at 114 4th Ave. N.W. Louise Castello, her granddaughter, (Hoyte Roberson's daughter), was her informant. All of the information on her death cert. conformation of her heritage.

A plot was selected for her at the Woodbine Cemetery in Puyallup, where she Rests In Peace.
