Mary Ann Dugas Garafola, 79 years old of Independence, Louisiana, born December 3, 1934, passed away on Friday, December 6, 2013, at North Oaks Medical Center.
Surviving are her 5 daughters, Cindy Vernon and husband Bill, Belinda McIntyre, Diana Shaw and husband Eddie, Connie Bentivegna and husband Carlo "Bucky", Phyllis Love and husband Clay; 9 grandchildren, Aaron and Eric Vernon, D.J. and Laura McIntyre, Daniel Alessi Jr, Heather Langston and Heath Bentivegna, Brittany Roussell and Holly Love; great-grandchild, Gage Vernon; and 7 brothers and sisters.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Sam A. Garafola; parents, Louis Dugas, Sr. and Alice Babin Dugas; and 4 brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be held at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond on Monday, December 9, 2013 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm.
Visitation will resume on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church at 9:00 am until the Communion Service conducted by Deacon Roger Navarra begins at 10:00 am.
Interment will follow in Colonial Cemetery in Independence.
