Gertrude M. Dikeman, 97, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2011, at Bethany St. Joseph Care Center..
She was born May 4, 1914, in La Crosse to Otto and Lillie (Rogowski) Hagen. She later married Clifford Dikeman on Dec.r 13, 1941, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 8, 2010..
Gert enjoyed spending time with and cooking for family and friends, playing cards, gardening and golfing in her younger years..
She is survived by a daughter, Karen Wenzel of Eau Claire; her daughter-in-law, Sally Christ of Onalaska; her son-in-law, Robert Hembd Sr. of La Crosse; her son, Richard (Beverly) Christ of Cotter, Ark., son, Merwin Dikeman of Emerald, Wis.; and sister, Gladys Mooney of Waukesha; 21 grandchildren; and many great- grandchildren; and nieces and nephews..
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a son, Kenneth Christ Sr.; and daughter, Jean Hembd..
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday June 9, at Olivet Lutheran Church. The Reverend David Baldukas will officiate and burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery in La Crosse. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 10 a.m. until time of services on Thursday at the church. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to a charity of your choice in Gerts memory.
