Mural and mosaic artist.

His father was a painter at the court of the last two Russian czars, Alexander III and Nicholas II. Jan Henryk studied painting in Warsaw and worked in Poland, Austria, and the Vatican. He was the first painter to paint murals in the Pope's chapel since Michelangelo. He came to America in 1939 to paint at the Polish embassy in Washington, D.C. Later in life, he converted to Catholicism and became professor of art at the Catholic University of America. His career designing murals and mosaics for churches and cathedrals extended fifty years. His principal works in the United States are found in Washington, D.C., Chicago, Buffalo, Memphis, Pittsburgh, and eight California cities. One of his greatest creations, the inner dome of the new cathedral in St. Louis, Missouri, is said to be the largest mosaic in the world. Information from Wikipedia.
