Boyd - Laddy Frank Abel, 79, went to be with our Lord Tuesday, December 24, 2013, in Bridgeport.
Funeral is 3 p.m. Friday, December 27, 2013 at Trinity Baptist Church in Boyd with burial in Boyd Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Trinity Baptist Church.

Rev. Andrew Vandergriff will officiate. Pallbearers include James F. Cornstubble, Eddy Calicott, Anthony Holman, Lee Waldrop, Bailey Vandenbrande, Shane Abel, Joe Bob Unger and Jody Jack.

Laddy was born October 5, 1934 to Helen Miller Abel and Carl Rhine in Decatur, Texas. He graduated from Boyd High School in 1953. He proudly served in the Texas National Guard and as a lighthouse keeper in the United States Coast Guard. He owned and operated Abel Automotive and Boyd NAPA in Boyd for many years before going to work as a mechanic for Brazos Gas where he retired.

Laddy was preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Frank Abel; his father, Carl Rhine; his son, Alan Abel; and his sister, Rosalyn Norville.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 24 years, Adarose Abel of Boyd; his daughters, Brenda Calicott and husband Eddy of Boyd, Cheryl Cornstubble of Boyd, Annette Abel of Decatur and Lesa Cantrell of Boyd; his daughter-in-law, Sheri Abel of N. Richland Hills; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; other family members and a host of friends.
