Flora Fulayter
The Times West Virginian

"I did not choose my mother. Had that been mine to do, of all the mothers in the world, my choice would still be you."

Flora Rita Fulayter placed the embroidered cross-stitched art piece above the beds of her two little daughters' bed posts. The girls quickly came to live the words given to them by Flora.

Born in 1920 in Fairmont, Flora cherished her role as a wife and mother. Soon after entering college with the desire to be a librarian, her plans altered when she met her husband-to-be John. Both felt blessed when their two daughters — Patricia and Beverly — arrived. Always embracing her daughters' interests, Flora was insistent that Pat and Beverly be college graduates. She knew the importance of women to be educated.

Important to her as well was her husband's love for music. Sometimes she would laugh calling herself "John's Musical Agent." The couple's love for music was an integral part of Flora and her family's life.

As a daughter of 12 children born to Salvatore and Rose Seccuro, Flora had six brothers — John, Victor, Dominick, Jim, Joe and Lloyd — and five sisters — Sara (Bannock), Virginia (Oliverio), Mary (Nuzum), Catherine (Zinkus) and Iva (Moore Cervo).

Flora's husband John preceded her in death in 1994.

She is survived by her daughters, Patricia (Tom) Logan and Beverly Baird Boothe; grandchildren, Jennifer Lynn Logan and Tommy (Lisa) Logan, III; and great-grandchildren Emilee and Matthew. Flora leaves behind a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.

Flora was a Catholic.

Funeral arrangements were made through Brisson Funeral Home in Sanford, Fla. The services were held at All Souls Catholic Church in the Historic Chapel in Sanford on Friday, Jan. 22, at 2 p.m. Graveside memorial services only will be held at the Martin Cemetery, Eldora Community, on Thursday, Feb. 4, at 2 p.m. The family has entrusted Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, with arrangements.
