Edwin Linder Arthus was born January 22, 1933 in Cross Roads, Texas to Ernest Arthus and Frances Whitman Arthus. He was drafted by the United States Army in 1952 and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal before his honorable discharge in 1954 to serve in the Army Reserves for another six years. He then married the love of his life Dorothy Cox in Athens in 1954. He retired from the Texas Clay Company after a career that spanned over 29 years. Ed was a member and Deacon at First Baptist Church Malakoff and taught Sunday School for many years. He loved Dominoes and golf and many other outdoor activities. He was a avid fisherman and was a Legendary Catfisherman in the area. He was a dedicated member of the community spending countless hours volunteering as a Boy Scout Leader, a baseball coach and President of the Rotary Club, being named Man of the Year. He was a family man who was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Pam Patterson and two brothers, James Arthus and Franklin Arthus.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Dorothy Arthus of Malakoff, Texas; one daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Charlie Bullock of Malakoff, Texas; one son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Jeri Arthus of Pittsburg, Texas; two brothers, Lloyd Arthus, Bobby Arthus; two sisters, Alphinell Berry, Betty Gilmore; five grandchildren, Chis Hampy of Ft. Worth, Texas, Kelly Silva of Frisco, Texas, Eric Hampy of Austin, Texas, Josh Haney of Malakoff, Texas, Nicholas Arthus of Pittsburg, Texas and six great grandchildren
