Mary's first marriage failed

She then married
John Koras
John H Cavanaugh (August 2,1941-May 1,2012) who proceeded her in death

Mary worked as a waitress from the age of 15 at a little restaurant located at the corner of 12th and Canfield streets in Detroit, Michigan. (Can not remember the name now) ,never asking anything from anyone. One of her first pay checks she spent on a doll for me. I was a stinker and found it before Christmas. It was darn near as big as me, my sister Barbara helped me hide it again under Mama's bed. Making me promise not to say a word, it was so hard to keep my excitement undercover for what seemed to be an eternity.

Mary was wonderful at interior decorating and her love of antiques filled her home with lovely pieces from a bygone eras. Her eye for where things should be placed was amazing. I always thought she should have been an interior design consultant

Mary could cook and bake so that it was hard to push away from the table. You'd find big stuffed goose on her table or nut and oyster filled stuffing. In her younger years she seemed to take great joy in this. Marble and checkerboard cakes were often found at her home. It makes me hungry with just the thought of her magic.

Mary loved the water, ocean or lakes but she never learned to swim just like our Mama. She was fun to tease when I was little. She would squeal when the water waves came to close to shore and would splash up on her where she was sitting.

To all who stop with flowers and words for my oldest sister I am forever grateful, Thank you in advance for your kindness.
