Sherry J. Leighty, 22, Altoona, died in September 1999.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Sheldon and Barbara (Weigand) Dumm.
Surviving are two daughters: Kieran and Rachel; a son, Travis; a sister, Shelly M. Nagle and husband, Donald III; two brothers: Richard and Shawn Dumm; two nieces: Darien Nagle and Sophia Dumm; and three nephews: James Leamer Jr. and Jadon and Cameron Nagle.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Marie Dumm; and an aunt, Bonnie Weaver.
Sherry was a 1995 graduate of Altoona Area High School and a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Altoona.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013, at Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg, Pastor Jaime G. Olson officiating. Interment will be at Carson Valley Cemetery.

On this day, December 19, 2013, Sherry's father-in-law, Kenneth Wayne Leighty, pleaded guilty to third degree murder in the slaying of his daughter-in-law in the 1999. Her remains were found buried on his 150-acre property at Warrior's Mark, Huntingdon county, PA.
