James Abrell Obituary

ABRELL James "Jim" William November 10, 1950 - December 7, 2013 James William Abrell was born in Toledo on November 10, 1950. He was the son of the late James Abrell Jr. and Sally (Peterson) Abrell Bucklew. At the age of seventeen, Jim was joined in marriage to the love of his life, Christine (Ruhl), on November 27, 1967. From their union would come the birth of five children. Jim was a great role model, and a hard worker. He was an excellent provider for his family. Jim was self-employed, and for more than forty years, supported his family as a certified diesel mechanic. Jim was also a dedicated servant to his community, serving proudly as a firefighter for The City of Luna Pier Volunteer Fire Department. Jim had a great sense of humor, and he was well known for his honest and caring ways. His greatest love in life was his family. After forty-six years of marriage, he is still in love with his beloved wife, "Chrissy." Jim enjoyed spending time at home with his family, making memories with his wife, children, grandchildren, and his great-granddaughter. James William Abrell, age 63, of Luna Pier, passed away unexpectedly at 3 p.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2013, at The Toledo Hospital. His passing was preceded by his father, James, and stepmother, Joyce. To cherish his memory, Jim leaves his loving wife, Christine; mother, Sally Bucklew of Oregon; five children, Jamie Jo (Garry) Smith of Monroe, Jodie Lee Costelli of Temperance, Matthew Paul (Jody) Abrell of Luna Pier, Julie Ann Gallaher of Temperance and Joy Lynn (Pat) Lanahan of Whitehouse; siblings, Mike (Darlene) Abrell of Point Place, Debbie (Lynn) Olinger of Curtis, Susie (Bob) Dickinson of Oregon, Denise Freeman of Arizona, and Eugene (Michelle) Abrell of Indiana; nine grandchildren: Brandon, Jordon, Caitlynn (Dylan), Autumn, Dawson, Denver, Mackenna, Claire, and Olivia, and one great-granddaughter, Brianna. A private burial will take place at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. His arrangements have been entrusted to Merkle Funeral Service, 9156 Summit in Erie (734) 848-5185. Friends may gather in the mausoleum for a memorial service on Thursday, December 12, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park, 4210 West Central in Toledo. Reverend Phil Dale will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Luna Pier Fire Department in honor of Jim would be appreciated.
