William David "Bill" Hinkle, 75, husband of Debbie (Warren) Hinkle of 3019 Parkersburg Turnpike, passed away Friday, December 6, 2013 in Rockingham Memorial Hospital, Harrisonburg.
Mr. Hinkle was born April 9, 1938 in Franklin, WV, a son of the late Robert Edward Lee and Ruth Eunice (Propst) Hinkle.
Bill attended First Church of the Nazarene; he was a veteran of the United States Army; a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1635, the Fraternal Order of Eagles 680 where he was named Eagle of the Year in 2004; he was retired from Mary Baldwin College with 28 years of service. Bill's greatest love was his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hinkle was preceded in death by a grandson, William Dalton Hinkle.
Surviving in addition to his wife, whom he married on August 7, 2004, are two sons; William Todd Hinkle and wife Joy, and Michael David Hinkle and fiancée Jennie Cook , all of Churchville; three daughters; Brenda Lee Murphy and husband Dale Edward of Rocky Mount, Sandra Kay Green of Churchville and Regina Ann Truxell and husband Philip of Churchville; eleven grandchildren; Trish Hinkle, Dakota Hinkle, Autumn Hinkle, Brian Green, Amanda Sprouse, Brison Judy, Aaron Michael Hinkle, Angie Regan, Michelle Murphy, and Shawn Murphy; six great grandchildren, Tara Shiflett, Kaylee Dalton Hinkle, Madison Regan, Hailey Regan, Bentley Murphy, and Landon Showers; three brothers; James Hinkle and wife Barbara of Swoope, Paul Hinkle and wife Debbie of Churchville, and Richard Hinkle and wife Delores of Craigsville; two sisters, Mary Lou Simmons and husband Lester of Deltaville, VA, and Patsy Bright and husband David of Churchville; his mother-in-law, Dorothy Warren; a sister-in-law, Cindy Payne and husband Dan; and a special niece, Ashlee Payne, all of Lyndhurst.
A Graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 10, 2013 in Oaklawn Memory Gardens by Pastor Carol Miller.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday, December 9, 2013 at Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, and other times at the residence.
Active pallbearers will be his sons Mike Hinkle and Todd Hinkle; and Philip Truxell, Brian Green, Will Helmick, Bobby Brown and Dan Payne.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Hearn, Roger Snead, John Elmore, his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
It is suggested that those desiring make memorial contributions to Buffalo Gap Presbyterian Church, 12 Parkersburg Pike, Swoope, VA 24479; or Lighthouse Church, 5031 Morris Mill Rd., Swoope, VA 24479.
