Samuel "Sammy" Skipper age 68 husband of Mrs. Geraldine Huggins Skipper passed away suddenly December 5, 2013. Mr. Skipper was born in Galivants Ferry, SC a son of the late Emory Lee Skipper and the late Getha Wallace Skipper. Mr. Skipper never met a stranger and loved talking with everyone. He graduated from Aynor High School in 1964; while he was very active in the band and was the captain of the basketball team. Mr. Skipper retired from farming only to continue meeting people through his catering service, Sam's Catering that he owned and operated. He was a past member of the Kiwanis club. Mr. Skipper was a member of Pisgah United Methodist Church, where he was a choir member, a Sunday School Teacher, served on the cemetery committee and a member of the United Methodist Men's Club. He was also very active with the Chrysalis and Emmaus Christian Retreats. Mr. Skipper was a loving husband, father, PaPa, brother, brother in law, uncle, a mentor and friend to many. He loved all and cherished his family. Mr. Sammy was predeceased by three brothers, Richard Skipper, Joe Skipper, Wallace Skipper, one sister Christine Lewis, and two brother in laws, Raleigh Johnson and Vernon Squires. Surviving Mr. Skipper in addition to his wife of the home are one daughter, Jessica Skipper, one grandson Dawson Skipper both of Galivants Ferry, three brothers, Bill Skipper (Janice) of Conway, P.L. Skipper (Virginia) of Kansas City, Kansas, Payne Skipper (Gayle) of Galivants Ferry, three sisters, Grace Johnson of Conway, Mary Squires - Partlow (Mark), Wanda Jenerette (Rev. Johnny) all of Galivants Ferry, two sister in laws, Wilmina Skipper of Conway, Corlous Skipper of Galivants Ferry, and one brother in law Gilbert Lewis of Galivants Ferry. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM Saturday December 7, 2013 at Johnson Funeral Home of Aynor. Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday December 8, 2013 at Pisgah United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jane Pearce officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
