Lake County, California – Johnny Carney passed away peacefully on November 9, after a short illness at the age of 88. He was surrounded by family.

Johnny was born in White Plains, New York, but spent most of his childhood in Ireland. He was a World War II Army veteran.

Many residents of Kelseyville will remember Johnny and his two border collies as he walked down Main Street, picking up litter as part of the local adopt-a-highway program.

His cheerful and positive attitude toward life touched everyone he met. Many local businesses, as well as strangers, will tell you that Johnny would greet them with a smile, hand them a flower and give them a kind word. He was like that all of his life and will be missed by many.

Johnny is survived by his six daughters, Shannon, (Rick) Gunier of Lower Lake, Timaree (Bill) Zickuhr of Kennewick, Washington, Kerry (Paul) Flores of Long Beach, Casey Carney of Kelseyville, Colleen Brola of Lakeport and Trish (Brian) Carney of Vermont.

Per his request, there will be no services.
