James "Ray" Lawless, 80, passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2001, he was born in El Paso June 20, 1920. He attended Austin High School and attended College of Mines. Mr. Lawless was commissioned as a 1st LT in the Army Air Corps and received his wings at Luke Field in their 1st graduating class - 41G (1941). He served as an instructor at all times in the training command recalled during the Korean Conflict. He was stationed at Ernest Harman Air Force Base in Newfoundland as a Director of Materials.

Mr. Lawless was founder of L&H Sheet Metal and retired from it several years ago to enjoy go here and at Alto Village in Ruidoso, NM. He was on of the founders of the Northeast Touchdown Club, he belonged to the El Paso Country Club, the Miners Foundation and Booster Club. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and had served as a Deacon.

Mr. Lawless is survived by his wife of 60 years, Maryellen Lawless; his daughter, Janet Lee McKinley and son-in- law, Jon McKinley of Las Cruces; his son, Jeff Lawless; granddaughter, Kimberly Ann Lawless and grandson, Jason Lawless all of El Paso; granddaughter, Raelene Dorme; great-granddaughter, Dona Rae Petersen and great-grandson, Dallas
Petersen all of Albuquerque. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and a very special lady, Cathy Hendrickx of El Paso.

Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 15th in Restlawn Mausoleum Chapel, 8700 Dyer Street with Rev. George Rogers officiating. Entombment will be in Restlawn Chapel Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 1340 Murchison Street.
