Mr. James Manuel Reeder of the New Teamon Community near Slocomb, passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2007 after a short illness. James was 65.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 28, at 2 p.m. at the New Teamon Baptist Church with Rev. J. Chris Adams, Rev. Wendell Holmes and Rev. Larry Newton officiating. Burial will follow in New Teamon Baptist Church Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to New Teamon Church Building Fund, 3813 South County Road 85, Slocomb, AL, 36375.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, February 26, from 6 until 8 p.m. At other times, the family will be at Mr. Reeder's home.

Mr. Reeder was born February 19, 1942 to the late James A. and Vassie Ann (Turner) Reeder in Geneva County. James was a graduate of Tate Junior High School, Slocomb High School, and obtained a Bachelor of Science and a Masters Degree from Troy State University. He taught and coached at schools in Alabama and Georgia. For eight years, he served as Superintendent of Education for the Geneva County School System. He retired from active educational work and managed the family farm until 2005. He was a member of the New Teamon Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Vassie Reeder; a brother, James Cleo Reeder; a sister, Elizabeth Ann Reeder; a brother-in-law, George Trimnel, and a nephew, Mike Trimnel.

Survivors include his sister, Reetha Ann Myers and her husband, Herman; a nephew, Mark Trimnel; a niece, Carla Ann Adams and her husband, Chris Adams, all of Slocomb; great nieces, Haley Trimnel and Hannah Hendrix and her husband, Naethan Hendrix; great nephews, Kristopher and Joshua Adams; and special friends, Larry Newton, Dwight Tew, Magdeline Segrest, Paula Segrest, and Sybil Schraeder.

Active pallbearers will be Nelson Adams, Harry Reeder, Bobby Reeder, Bobby Dunaway, Jerry Dunaway, and Eugene Reeder. Honorary pallbearer will be Larry Reeder.
