Mr. Luther Paul Martin, age 80, of Ferris died Sunday, May 23, 2004 at Charlton Methodist Hospital in Dallas. He was born June 2, 1923 in Snow Creek, Virginia to James Luther and Nancy Mary Davis Martin. Luther graduated from Rocky Mount High School in Virginia in 1941. He married Margaret Townshend on December 13, 1945 in England during World War II. Luther was a staff sergeant during the war in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He retired as a Vice President of Color Print & Processing Division of Eastman Kodak Co. after 40 years of service. He had worked for the Red Oak ISD for over 15 years and was employee of the year 1995-1996. He had lived in Ferris for 20 years and previously lived in Webster, NY for 20 years. Luther was a 32nd degree Mason and member of the Etolian Lodge #479 in Spencerport, NY, a Shriner, a member of the Scottish Rite, a past President of the Texas Appaloosa Horse Club and past Vice-President of the Dalworth Appaloosa Horse Club. He was an elder in the Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Martin is survived by his wife of 58 years, Margaret Martin of Ferris; his daughter, Cheryl Martin Wixtrom Farrens and husband, Paul E Farrens of Maryland and one brother, Leslie Martin of Martinsville, VA. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, David Martin; and sister, Evelyn Martin Beheler.

A memorial service celebrating and honoring his life will be held Friday, May 28, 2004 at 4:00 PM in the Red Oak High School Cafeteria.
