Ruth Blanton Erickson, age 88, of Wilmington, died on Sunday, October 16, 2005. She was born the daughter of the late Curtis and Effie Blanton. Remembered is her husband Andy Erickson who passed away in May of 2005. After moving to New Hanover County Ruth graduated from New Hanover High School and Miller-Motte Business College and was a bookkeeper at Sutton Council Furniture Co. She later went to East Carolina University where she graduated with a Degree in Education and received numerous honors. She and her late husband Andy Erickson were members of Calvary Baptist Church and also enjoyed serving Christ at Springview Pentecostal Freewill Baptist Church. Ruth was a very talented lady and wrote two books "A Collection of Poems and Short Stories" and "The Holy Spirit and Angels." Ruth enjoyed traveling, spending time with her family and assisting her neighbors and friends in many ways. She is survived by three sisters, Pernell Blanton Sims, Pinkey Blanton Kelly, both of Wilmington, and Jewel Blanton Podaras of Melbourne, FL; and one brother, Allen Blanton of Wilmington; one grandson, Mark and his wife, Keri, of Holly Springs, NC; and one granddaughter, Jennifer Simpson of Greenville, NC;three great-grandsons, Benjamin, Ryan, and Josiah; and one great-granddaughter, Hanna; and a step-daughter, Pamela Lipka and her husband, Jerry Lipka.
