Howland Township - The Rev. Leonard R Brown , 62 of 273 Fuller Drive , NE , Howland Township , died at 9:15 p.m. Wednesday March 15 , 1995 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital after an extended illness . He was born Dec. 27 , 1932 , in Grafton , W.Va. , to Bartlett and Edith Hoover Brown . He had been a resident of the Warren area since 1987 . He had been employed since 1987 at First Baptist Church in Howland , where he was associate pastor and had taught the adult Sunday School Class and led the congregational singing . He also had taught high school classes in Spanish , accounting and Bible at Howland Christian School . He was a member of the board of directors and acting president of Teen Straight Talk . He also had been a missionary in the Amazon Basin in Brazil for 18 years . He was a 1950 graduate of Belpre High School . He received his bachelor of divinity from Bible Baptist Seminary in Arlington , Texas ; his B.A. degree from Arlington Baptist College ; a doctorate in philosophy and religion from Christian Bible College in Enfield , N.C. ; and an honorary Doctor of Divinity from Baptist Theological Seminary in Madrid , Spain . He was ordained in 1958 and had worked on translating the Bible into Portuguese . He collected clocks and had enjoyed crossword puzzles . He is survived by his wife , Maxine Barickman Brown , whom her married Nov. 20 1951 ; his mother of Belpre ; two sons Greg Brown of Irving , Texas , and Jonatas C. Brown of Howland Township ; one daughter , Mrs. George (Valerie) Higgins of Warren ; two brothers , George Brown of Hershey , Pa. and David Brown of Belpre ; two sisters Mrs. Paul (Roberta) Bryant of Kansas City Mo. ; eight grandchildren . He was preceded in death by his father ; and one brother Carl Brown . Services are 10 a.m. tomorrow at first Baptist Church in Howland , where friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today . Graveside services are 4 p.m. tomorrow at Rockland Cemetery in Belpre . Robert H. Roberts-Clark Memorial Home in Howland Township was in charge of arangements .
