Aheimer , Sandra R. 70 Mount Pleasant Sandra R. Aheimer, 70, of Mt. Pleasant, died Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born Oct. 1, 1943, in Pittsburgh, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Ruth (Hand) Aheimer. She was a member of Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Greensburg, for more than 40 years.

Sandra R. Aheimer, 70, of Mt. Pleasant, died Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born Oct. 1, 1943, in Pittsburgh, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Ruth (Hand) Aheimer. She was a member of Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Greensburg, for more than 40 years. Sandra was a breeder of AKC Miniature Schnauzers, specializing in the pure white variety. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Elaine (Aheimer) Nagy in 2002; and her brother, Richard Aheimer in 2011. Sandra is survived by her son, Dan Fleming, of Mt. Pleasant; her fur-babies, Miniature Schnauzers Molly, Tucker, Frosty and Jackson and her Yorkie, Mya; brothers, Ronald Aheimer and his wife, Joanne, of Hampton, Va., Dennis Aheimer and his wife, Carol, of Farmington; brother-in-law, Albert Nagy, of Elizabeth; sister-in-law, Taffie Aheimer, of Ruffsdale; a special aunt, June Hand, of Bethel Park; and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by special friends and neighbors, Bob and Janie Wesling, of Mt. Pleasant, and their two daughters, Courtney and Lindsay, who she watched grow from little girls into two lovely young ladies; and a longtime family friend, Earl Steel, of Newark, Ohio. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME, 2245 Mt. Pleasant Road, Norvelt, PA 15674, where her funeral service will be at 11 a.m. with Pastor Brian Chaffee officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, Tarrs. The family wishes to thank Dr. Terry Evans and the staff at Arnold Palmer Cancer Center for their many years of caring and kindness, Pete and Robin and the staff of Norvelt Pharmacy for their years of compassion, advice and kindness and the staff at Hempfield Manor Nursing Home and Excela Hospice, who helped make her final days comfortable.
