Mary Campbell Curtis, 85 Mary Campbell Curtis, 85, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 24, 2010, at her residence in Kalispell. She was born Aug. 17, 1924, at Sherwood, N.D., the daughter of John and Edith (Munro) Campbell. She attended her freshman year, as a music major, at Dickinson State University before teaching in a one-room schoolhouse in the Badlands of North Dakota for two years during World War II. After finishing a year of secretarial school in Seattle, Mary moved to the Los Angeles area where she met her husband, Edward Curtis, whom she married in 1946. She worked as a private secretary at a large department store and at Union Pacific Railroad in the Los Angeles area before relocating to Columbia Falls in 1977, following her husband s retirement from the Los Angeles Police Department. Mary had many interests, but mainly family and her many close friends from all walks of life. She enjoyed traveling, growing flowers, gardening and stitch work. She enjoyed good company and good humor. She treated everyone with respect and focused upon the best in everyone. She will be lovingly remembered by family and close friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; infant, Mary Elizabeth; her parents; and three brothers, Corliss, Colin and Logan Campbell. She is survived by her daughters, Carol Curtis and Kathleen Curtis, of Missoula; grandchildren, Ernest Thureno and Mareno Thureno of Missoula, and Olivia Songman of San Francisco; one sister, Mickey Wood, of Columbia Falls; a niece, Audra Fisher, and husband, Dave, and grand-nephew, Ethan Miller, all of Missoula; and a cousin, Geri Bremer, and husband, George, of Tempe, Ariz. Funeral services for Mary will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, at Risen Christ Catholic Church, with Father Rudolph Bullman as celebrant. Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. today, Jan. 27, at Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home. There will be a rosary at 7 p.m. in the Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Chapel.
