The DOB location used for this memorial is Washington County, New York, per obituary and biographical information, but it now appears that some sources may offer Vermont as the birth location. Whether or not the actual birth location in 1821 was affected by boundary changes or incorrect information supplied for sources, is an open question and subject to some ongoing research. Any further information/clarifications would be appreciated.

Death of John Huston.

John Huston, one of the oldest and best known residents of Round Prairie township, died at Glasgow Wednesday. He was in the eighty-first year of his age, and had long been in feeble health. Mr. Huston was born in Washington county, N.Y., and grew to mature years there. He was married in Ohio, his wife dying in this county in 1896. He removed to Iowa in 1852, locating in Tama county, and two years later came to Round Prairie township, where he has since resided. Four children survive the parents - W.E. Huston of this city; Charles F. and Mrs. Theodore Britton of Turtle Lake, N.D. ;and Orrin Huston who is in California . John Huston was an excellent man and citizen. During all his life in Jefferson County he enjoyed the confidence and trust of his neighbors and was honored by them with many positions of importance in public affairs . He had many friends throughout the county who sympathized with him in his illness of recent years and who will sincerely regret his death. Mr. Huston died at the Glasgow hotel, the building in which he spent his first night in Jefferson County nearly fifty years ago. The remains were interred at Glasgow Thursday.

-------
Note: it is highly likely that John and Mary Huston were the parents of a number of children, some who died in infancy or young childhood, others who lived to be adults and were mentioned in John's obituary. Not mentioning very young infants/children in obituaries such as the one for John Huston was not uncommon.

There is at least one John Huston family group sheet found in the Fairfield Public Library genealogy reference section. Some of the information on it needs further review so not all of the information on it is being used on this memorial at this time (July 24, 2018).
