Being the last child born into a large family, Hilda had five sisters, two brothers and a mother and father who took great care of her

Quite often, the family tended to Hilda's needs without her having to ask for help. As a result, she pretty much didn't have to talk when she was very young. Suddenly, at age two, she started to speak in full sentences, much to the surprise of the rest of her family. This is how Hilda approached everything else in life: full blown and with gusto. In fact, probably the best word to describe the kind of young woman that Hilda was is "vivacious." She had a great love of literature, film, theater and music as well as a strong commitment to her religion. In many ways, Hilda was the perfect "bookend" to her mother, Carole, both of them bracketing the LaMoreaux Family in love, devotion and joy.

Hilda had a strong belief in the power of schools and books to make a difference in the lives of young people. Hilda felt that the world was there to explore and learn from. At the time of her death, at 25, she was planning on finishing her college degree in filmaking at the University of Michigan.

She wanted to travel all over the world. She was able to fulfill some of this dream She went to England for six months to work and then continued to traveled all over Europe. She worked at a radio station and wanted to become a sound technician. She said her voice sounded weird on the radio, so she would never go on it live.

She was very active at St. Gerard Church as a lector. The family believes she went straight to heaven the same as Carole and Cristoffer. God always takes the good people first.
