Joshua M. Thompson, 81, of Pocomoke City, MD, died Sunday, August 22, 2004 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.
Born October 27, 1922, in Pocomoke City, he was a son of the late Joshua M. Thompson, Sr. and the late Mable Richardson Thompson Phillips. His wife of 54 years, Elizabeth Jones Thompson, preceded him in death November 11, 2000.
Mr. Thompson was a WWII Army Veteran of the First Special Service Forces; a Gold Badge Member of the Pocomoke Volunteer Fire Department, with over fifty years of service; a member of the Masonic Lodge Sinepuxent #193 A.F. & A.M. and the former Crescent Lodge #178, a 32° Scottish Rite Mason and Worcester Chapter #102 O.E.S.
After retiring from NASA Fire Department Wallops Island in 1972, he continued working at George E. Young Auto Parts in Pocomoke City until 1984.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 25, 2004 at the Holloway Melson Funeral Home in Pocomoke City, where family and friends may call Tuesday from 7-9:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service. Rev. David Heistand will officiate. Interment will follow in the Pitts Creek Presbyterian Cemetery in Pocomoke City.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in his memory to the Sinepuxent Lodge #193, P.O. Box 25, Snow Hill, MD 21863 or to a charity of your choice.
