On July 8, 1927, he, together with his sister Lois Marie and brother Mark Alton, was baptized by Rev. Headen of Courtenay, North Dakota.
Alan had been in poor health since February of 1926, and in May of 1927 he underwent an operation from which he never recovered. He suffered much the last few months, but bravely bore his suffering, asking only to be assured he would feel better soon. A Merciful Father pleased that his baby prayers be answered, permitted him to pass quietly from this world.
Little Alan was a bright, lovable little fellow and won many friends, who mourn his departure, together with a loving father, mother, sister and brother.
Safe in the arms of Jesus
Safe on his gentle breast,
There by His love o'ershadowed,
Sweetly my soul shall rest.
