Mrs. Zettie Barge Atkins

Monterey lost one of its valuable Citizens last week when Mrs. Atkins was called Home. For a long while she was not well, but ever active in Church work, in club and social pleasures and ever phase of duty that came to her.
A willing mind and hands were ever ready to serve.
She had been of invaluable aid in girls club which worked in the home demonstrations.
How they will miss her. She meant so much to the Community and as a leader she spent useful days among her own.
Home was a bereft of her husband, Mr. Frank Atkins, when the children were young, but Mrs. Atkins took up the burden and met duties with ready hands.
Church work was done, Home cares never neglected.
A last short illness and this active life went out.
An aged Mother, Mrs. Annie Barge, a son and daughter, Bythewood and Martha, two sisters, Mrs. Howard Steen and Mrs. James Carter, and a brother, Mr. Dan Barge, are left, beside many close Relatives and Friends.
The service was conducted by Rev. Hughen, Pastor of the Methodist Church, of which Annie was a member.
Interment was made in Monterey Cemetery.
Among others who attended the Funeral from the Community and near by places were Mr. and Mrs. T.K. Traweek and there children, Miss Elizabeth Atkins, of Birmingham, Mr. and Mrs. M.E. Barringtonn, Mr. Bill Williams and Mrs. Genevieve
Tally, Monroeville, Mr. and Mrs. Story Stallworth, Mrs. Will Stallworth and Mrs. Newton, Mr. and Mrs. Ira Traweek and Anita Traweek, Mrs.J.K. Carter, Mr.W. Darby, G. H. Tatum, H.C. Seale, R.R.Haygood, Edmund Lee, Mesdames ArthurLee, Lula Little and H.H. Henderson.
