TV News Anchor/Reporter. Alan Hemberger worked for KTRK-TV, ABC 13's weekend and Live at Five newscasts from 1989-1998. He also did a brief stint for KEYE-TV, CBS 42 Austin before settling at KIAH-TV, CW 39 doing the primary newscasts from 2000 until his retirement in 2010.

He also served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War in the 199th Infantry Division, LIBC/5/12 and received the CIB Air Medal.

Hemberger graduated from Emerson College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communication/Media Studies in 1973. Began his television career at KDFA-TV in Amarillo as News/Public Affairs Director and the 6pm and 10pm anchor there. He then went on to co-anchor with Dixie Whatley on "Entertainment This Week" for Paramount Television in Hollywood, California. For two years, he covered Hollywood movie premieres, and high profile events for "Entertainment Tonight" including the Oscars, the Emmys, and the Grammy award programs.

He was widely respected for his professionalism and kindness. Alan was an avid Boston sports fan, a loyal member of "The Red Sox Nation." He also loved all kinds of music, especially Elvis Presley. After retirement, he fulfilled a life-long dream by moving to Cape Cod, his favorite place on earth since childhood.

Alan is survived by his wife, Jane and their five children: Ahren Hemberger, Christian Hemberger and wife, Laura, Corey Hemberger, John Hemberger and fiancée, Amber Smith, and Daniel Hemberger and wife, Brittany; grandchildren: Spencer, Jett and Rebekah, with another grandson on the way; brothers: Richard Hemberger and wife, Mary Lou and William Hemberger and wife, Susan; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 27, 2013 at the Chapel of Kingwood Funeral Home from 6:00pm-8:00pm, located at 22800 Highway 59 North in Kingwood, Texas 77339. A vigil will be held at the Chapel at 7:00pm. Funeral services will be taking place on Monday, October 28, 2013 at the Saint Martha Catholic Church in Porter, Texas 77365. Committal service to follow at the Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery in Harwich, Massachusetts on Wednesday, October 30, 2013.
