David Louis Gillig, age 48, Fostoria, Ohio, died peacefully Monday, February 21, 2005 at 11:45 PM. Dave was born on April 10, 1956 in Fostoria to Donald & Carolyn (Nick) Gillig, his mother is deceased. He married Marlene M. Hoffman on January 3, 1998 in Fostoria and she survives in Fostoria. Also surviving are his father and stepmother, Donald (Florence "Tootsie") Gillig, Fostoria, 6 children, Jason (Chandra Brown) Gillig and Shawn (Ashley Long) Gillig of Fostoria, Joy Gillig, Columbus, Ohio, Madison Gillig, Morgan Manns and Megan Manns at home, Fostoria, Ohio, 2 grandchildren, Kears Gillig and Cierra Long, 4 brothers, Steve (Mary Kay) Gillig, Fostoria, Jeff Gillig, Fostoria, Chris Gillig, Florida and Ron Gillig, Findlay, Ohio, 2 sisters, Linda (Tony) Nowicki, Findlay and Amy (Brian) VanSant, Findlay, 4 step-sisters, Joni (Steve) Ewing, Risingsun, Ohio, Julie (Bill) Pahl, Fostoria, Joanne (Bruce) Herrig, Fostoria, Jacquie Whitta, Fostoria and In-Laws, Lawrence and Marilyn Hoffman, Fostoria, Ohio. He played semi-pro football with the Tri-County Crusaders, Toledo Patriots and Tri-City Raiders. He coached football at Fostoria Middle School for several years, and participated in Fostoria Recreational Softball (1970's-1990's). He also coached several Fostoria youth leagues (boyslittle league & girls softball-as a father). Dave bowled in a Thursday night bowling league, and most recently played 40 & over softball in Tiffin, Ohio. He enjoyed driving his 1970 Charger R/T, family cook-outs, and spending time with his family. He will be remembered as a dedicated husband and father.
