Obituary:
Thomas E. Dewey, Sr., 62, of Cass City died unexpectedly Wednesday, October 31, 2012, in his home. He was born January 4, 1950 in Cass City to Wayne and Naomi (Spencer) Dewey. He married Dawn Lee LaPeer April 7, 1973 in Caro.
Tom worked for Hamill Seat Belt in Ubly. He then worked for Evans Products in Gagetown for many years, but his favorite job of all was working at Wild John's on M-53. Tom also helped his Dad laying brick and block for many years. When his son Tommy was young, Tom spent a great deal of time teaching him about baseball and passing on a love of the game. Tom enjoyed hunting, especially deer and turkey. A couple years ago he bagged a record turkey. Tom also enjoyed NASCAR. But most important to Tom was spending time with his grandchildren, they were the light of his life.
Tom is survived by his wife, Dawn; son, Thomas (Barbara) Dewey, Jr. of Cass City; grandchildren: Braeden Thomas, Corbin Edward Lee, Cali Shealynn; sister, Joanne (Joe) Steadman of Cass City; sister-in-law, Debbie (Harry) McAlpine of Mack's Creek, MO; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Stephanie Dewey in 1984 and by his parents.
Funeral service held 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 5, 2012 in Kranz Funeral Home with Rev. J.T. Mabe officiating. Interment is in Elkland Township Cemetery.
