Moved west ca 1829/30. Due to Cholera outbreak they stopped at Kentucky for 3 mths. and then onto Bloomington, Ind. He went with his brothers William and Isaiah.

He died before Mar 1865 of smallpox while living in Putnam County, Missouri. His death by smallpox is mentioned in his probate papers, which are found in Estate 642, filed in Putnam County on 6 Mar 1865

The newspaper ad for 1st wife's deceased wife Jane's dad is dated 20 Apr 1853.
Right around 1853-1854, Jesse appears to have moved once again, this time to Putnam County, Missouri.
He began receiving patents for land in Putnam County beginning 1 May 1854.
Jesse is listed in Putnam County in the 1860 census, and in 1864 in the same county in the IRS Assessment List.

Note that Jesse's children Matthew and Nancy had died by this time.

Phipps, in Iowa, David Phipps, in Oregon, that the said Jesse Phipps, died without a will, that he will make a perfect inventory of, and faithfully administer said estate, & pay the debts as far as the assets will extend and the law direct, and account for and pay all assets which shall come to his [unclear] or knowledge.
